Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the newcreation has come:  The old has gone, the new is here!   2 Corinthians 5:17


What is Lent and why do I care?   It seems as if Lent is a constant reminder of what I must give up and I am not even sure why!   This year I must face the Lenten season while wearing a mask and social distancing from the Easter bunny.   

Lent is a journey lasting 40 days.  A journey that serves as a stark reminder that humanity is a big mess and that the promise of a savior is our only hope.   As Paul writes.... through Christ we as believers are made new.

This past year has shown us all that we control nothing beyond our choice to step toward our savior and be made new or step away and remain lost and afraid for eternity.

Easter bunnies, Easter baskets and colored eggs remind children that Easter is a special day.  Calvary, the cross and the resurrection remind believers that as Paul tells the church of Corinth we are made new and mankind is forever changed!!!

  Lent 2021 - TURNING POINT Friday, March 5th Fasting , Matthew 6:16  - Written by Sharon Ruff   “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting my be seen by others.Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret.   Lent 2021 - TURNING POINT Saturday, February 20th 40 Days, Lenten Sacrifice - Written by Ben Kraihanzel   Matthew 4:1,2   Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.   2  After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. Matthew 3 ends on profound moment in the life of Christ, his baptism. This moment was significant because it not only gave us a glimpse of the humanity of Jesus, but also allowed Jesus to identify with sinners (us).
